Minerals Mate Review

Let me start this review by saying I didn't not write it!! It was written by a fantastic Make up Artist Faith Haller. This was such a great review I asked if I could use it. Of course you can get yours at Fusion of Color after you read this review you will want one!
http://www.fusionofcolor.net/Minerals-Mate-/

I had the honor of trying out the Minerals Mate Mixing Palette! This is a great way to mix and experiment without messing up anything. It's a great sanitary way to avoid double dipping also! All the things you can do with this:
Flip your lids!
Give yourself room to play with your mineral makeup with a Minerals Mate application palette. Shake what minerals you need into the wells and have at it! The large wells are for your foundations, blushes and all-over treatments; the small wells are for eye colors and special-area minerals. Look, you're an artist (and no more messy lids)!

Mix it up or add shine
Sometimes, that fabulous eye color you got just needs a little tweaking to go with that outfit. Or, you want to add a little sparkle for the night. With a Minerals Mate application palette, you can change your mineral makeup for one use and save the original tones.

Make your own match
Can't find the right shade or coverage from your favorite brand of mineral makeup? Don't despair! Use a Minerals Mate application palette to mix your own shade or texture of foundation for a perfect match. It works great, too, for when you gain or lose that summer tan. You can purchase your own sifter jar, too, for storing your unique shades.

Finally, foil with ease
Foiling is the ever-so-fun art of adding water (or saline solution) to your eye color for that magnificent metallic look. With a Minerals Mate application palette, you can foil only a dab or two of your favorite eye shadows and keep your original tubs of product clean and dry.

Save makeup! Save money!
Ever dump too much makeup into the lid? How well does putting it back into the jar work for you? Use your Minerals Mate palette to store that leftover amount for the next application, slipping it safely and cleanly into its red palette pouch. You can also purchase a larger matching tote bag for storing and carrying your mineral makeup collection and tools.

Add key ingredients
Zinc oxide and sulfur (or sulphur) are just two natural ingredients in many specialty mineral makeup treatments. Using a Minerals Mate application palette, you can carefully sprinkle in these or other raw elements to meet SPF or anti-acne needs. Zinc oxide is used for UVA protection and sulfur is a natural anti-bacterial agent.

Wash your brushes
The thumb rest of your Minerals Mate palette doubles as a brush wash! Just fill it with water and a clean-rinsing shampoo or brush-washing product, and gently swirl your small brushes against the ribbed surface. The larger wells of the palette can be used for washing larger brushes. Our best tip: Wash your palette daily and your brushes weekly.

Be a less messy guest
Traveling? Invited to stay a few nights with a friend? Don't leave a mess on the vanity by spreading your dusty makeup powder all over the place! Just pack a Minerals Mate palette with you on your trip and leave behind you a nice, clean and, of course, beautiful reputation.

The Make up Show Chicago

I am a little behind in my blogging. So here goes. This was the first year that The Famous Make up Show came to Chicago. Thanks to the amazing, talented and funny James Vincent!!  It was a hit to say the least. Lots of great brand names like Inglot, Smashbox, Stila, Make up Forever, Embroylisse attended. Lots of make up artists talking about the industry, giving us insider tips and trick. There were workshop, seminars, education and of course shopping.  Some of the keynote speakers were Michael DeVellis, Crystal Wright, Joanna Schlip, Jinny Houle, Sam Fine, Reggie Wells, Johnny Lavoy and Maurice Stein. They had an all day workshop presented by one of the best Orlando Santiago.
Where can you take classes by these famous people Danessa Myricks, Kathy Argon, Johnny Lavoy, Jon Hennessey Eugenia Weston and  AJ Crimson.  You can ask them questions and pick their brains for their knowledge. I met so many wonderful and talented people like Jennifer James, Sherry Blossom, SanTara Cassmajor, Viola Nicholson and so many more I can't remember. Met friends from twitter which was so much fun. Saw old friend and made some new friends.

Exclusive Jeune D'Age Facial Moisturizing Creme

The  Facial  Moisturizing Creme is a brand new product by Jeune D' Age. It will only be carried at select locations. not on their website. Well I didn't know what to expect, since I did not sample it. But as with all their products I knew this one would be a winner. I got my package on Thursday, it comes in a dark brown glass jar  2 oz. (will get a picture later)  so I opened the jar and was pleasantly surprised that it was a a nice creme consistency. I am not a big fan of liquid type moisturizers. I love the feel of a rich, heavy creme. So of course had to try it, put some on my hand, soaked in nicely and left my hand soft and not greasy, another I hate anything that feels greasy. I used it that night alone with out the serum under it. In the morning my face felt soft and smooth. I have not used it under make up yet but will this week. I think this is a winner.  When you apply it to your face and you don't need much. it leaves a nice soft feel to the skin.

Shopping at the Summit

Let me start by saying this was every make up junkies dream!!!  The companies that participated were the best of the best.
Alcone, Alison Raffaele, Armour Beauty, Big Girl Cosmetics, Cara Cosmetics, Cover FX, Crown Brush,  Crystal Wright Live, Embryolisse, Eve Pearl Beauty, Make up Forever, Naimie's, Naked Cosmetics, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Pencil Me In, Senna, Stila, Temptu, Yaby just to name a few. No I didn't stop at all of them.  But I will next time

One of my stops was at Embryolisse, the make up artist all seem to like and carry this in their bag.  http://www.embryolisseusa.com/.   So I figured has to be good.
Lait-Crème Concentrè (24-Hour Miracle Cream) is a rich moisturizing lotion. This specially formulated lotion is quite versatile, throw it in your travel bag when you don't have enough space for numerous products. Our creamy lotion is really three products in one: it cleans, moisturizes, and reduces irritation after shaving. Massage into face and neck and rinse off with warm water to remove dirt and makeup. Apply to damp clean skin to seal in moisture before applying makeup. Smooth over legs after shaving to sooth irritated skin.

I have been using it for 2 weeks now, and it has a nice light creamy texture and sinks into the skin, doesn't not feel greasy at all. It does not have an SPF in it, so I have been mixing a bit of my SPF 25 cream with it.  The make up artist use it for that reason, they do not like anything to flash back in the photo. I do have mature skin and it does a good job of moisturing. This moisturizer works well under minerals, does not change the color of the minerals like some moisturizers do.

The next item from this line I purchased was eye cream, and if you all know me you know I buy everyone on the market. Well I am quite pleased with one, it is moisturizing enough for my wrinkled old eyes, again sinks into the skin, not greasy. Some eye creams tend to make my dark circles darker, yes ladies your eye creams can do that. This one does not and the under eye area stays nice and smooth all day.
Soin Contour Des Yeux (Eye Contour Treatment) is a non-greasy eye treatment that has been specially formulated for the fragile area around the eyes. Rich in active ingredients this multi-purpose product acts to improve skin tone, firm skin, and reduce the appearance of small wrinkles and crow's feet.

The last item I got was a night cream Crème Onctueuse Raffermissante (Rich Firming Cream) is specially formulated with Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Elastin & the Complex Vitamins A, E & F. The combination improves skin tone and elasticity while wrinkles and lines become visibly softer.
I used this as my night moisturizer. I cleanse my face with my Clairsonic, usually tone and then I apply a small amount of this cream. You do not need much it is very rich and silky and again it soaks into the skin leaving it feel smooth, soft and silky. My face in the am looks pretty darn good and it nicley moisturized and soft.
I have to say I am impressed with this line and will be ordering it again.

Come back and see what else I bought!!!!

The Artist Summit in Chicago

The Artist Summit was here last week end, the first time they have come to Chicago. The Artist Summit will bring together celebrity artists from beauty, fashion, film and television, top pro-beauty brands and educators with pro makeup artists, hairstylists, business owners and students from across the globe for three days of education, community building and networking. The events are open to pros from any are of the makeup and beauty industries.

I went on Saturday for the Make up 101 Class and 8 hour extensive class on all things for the make up artist to know. The class was give by Daven Mayeda, and outstanding(and awfully cute) make up artist. We learned things that a make up artist needs to know, and some techniques for applying make up. The fun was we got to try out these techniques on a member of the group, we had partners to experiment on. He told us his secrets that he uses in his work.

While we were practing out techniques, Eugenia Weston of Senna Cosmetics came into the class and was walking around looking at our work. Of course I immediatley recognized her and started talking to her. I was so awe struck LOL!!!
This was day one of the summit, will do another post about the class on day 2 with Kevin James Bennett.
