Shopping at the Summit

Let me start by saying this was every make up junkies dream!!!  The companies that participated were the best of the best.
Alcone, Alison Raffaele, Armour Beauty, Big Girl Cosmetics, Cara Cosmetics, Cover FX, Crown Brush,  Crystal Wright Live, Embryolisse, Eve Pearl Beauty, Make up Forever, Naimie's, Naked Cosmetics, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Pencil Me In, Senna, Stila, Temptu, Yaby just to name a few. No I didn't stop at all of them.  But I will next time

One of my stops was at Embryolisse, the make up artist all seem to like and carry this in their bag.  http://www.embryolisseusa.com/.   So I figured has to be good.
Lait-Crème Concentrè (24-Hour Miracle Cream) is a rich moisturizing lotion. This specially formulated lotion is quite versatile, throw it in your travel bag when you don't have enough space for numerous products. Our creamy lotion is really three products in one: it cleans, moisturizes, and reduces irritation after shaving. Massage into face and neck and rinse off with warm water to remove dirt and makeup. Apply to damp clean skin to seal in moisture before applying makeup. Smooth over legs after shaving to sooth irritated skin.

I have been using it for 2 weeks now, and it has a nice light creamy texture and sinks into the skin, doesn't not feel greasy at all. It does not have an SPF in it, so I have been mixing a bit of my SPF 25 cream with it.  The make up artist use it for that reason, they do not like anything to flash back in the photo. I do have mature skin and it does a good job of moisturing. This moisturizer works well under minerals, does not change the color of the minerals like some moisturizers do.

The next item from this line I purchased was eye cream, and if you all know me you know I buy everyone on the market. Well I am quite pleased with one, it is moisturizing enough for my wrinkled old eyes, again sinks into the skin, not greasy. Some eye creams tend to make my dark circles darker, yes ladies your eye creams can do that. This one does not and the under eye area stays nice and smooth all day.
Soin Contour Des Yeux (Eye Contour Treatment) is a non-greasy eye treatment that has been specially formulated for the fragile area around the eyes. Rich in active ingredients this multi-purpose product acts to improve skin tone, firm skin, and reduce the appearance of small wrinkles and crow's feet.

The last item I got was a night cream Crème Onctueuse Raffermissante (Rich Firming Cream) is specially formulated with Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Elastin & the Complex Vitamins A, E & F. The combination improves skin tone and elasticity while wrinkles and lines become visibly softer.
I used this as my night moisturizer. I cleanse my face with my Clairsonic, usually tone and then I apply a small amount of this cream. You do not need much it is very rich and silky and again it soaks into the skin leaving it feel smooth, soft and silky. My face in the am looks pretty darn good and it nicley moisturized and soft.
I have to say I am impressed with this line and will be ordering it again.

Come back and see what else I bought!!!!

The Artist Summit Part 2

The next day I had a Color Theory Class with Kevin James Bennett, for all of you who do not know who he is here is a little bit about him. He is also sooo charming!!
Multiple Emmy Award winner, Kevin-James Bennett, has spent over 20 years honing the skills that have brought him accolades from his peers as well as viewers of his work in television, film and print projects. After a long and successful career in the industry, he is excited to join MAKE UP FOR EVER as U.S. Director of Artistry and Development. Kevin's love affair with make up was ignited by ground-breaking make up artist Way Bandy's beauty book "Designing Your Face," which initially inspired him to journey into the world of make up. His passion was further intensified by the dawn of the Supermodel in the 80's, as he was fascinated by the intense media focus on these catwalk superstars and the celebrity status of the artists who created their looks. He worked closely with society and celebrity clientele, and made his first foray into TV by assisting the salon's stylists during television make over segments filmed there. Noting his speed and technical expertise under pressure, the television studios began to book him directly to work on a variety of shows. In the early 90's, Kevin's career began to take off and he left the arena of retail make up. Fashion runway, print and television bookings filled his schedule.

This class taught us how to make any color foundation using a few things that MUA keep in their bag.  I was total amazed at  how this was done. The man is a genius with foundation and a few colorants. I was very confused about color theory but this class spelled things out in a way that I could even understand.
Since the class was using liquid foundation, I am going to try and take the information I learned to apply it to using minral make up when I do a client. I have to make come color additives or toners so I can tweak the foundation for some one sitting in my chair. This way I can have a color for anyne who needs their make up done. So will be practing on some suspecting customers.  The class was over so fast but again we did learn some tricks and tips from one of the Masters of the Make Up Artist World.

Next installment I will be telling you what I bought at the show, yes they had an area for shopping. My favorite part of the 3 days.

The Artist Summit in Chicago

The Artist Summit was here last week end, the first time they have come to Chicago. The Artist Summit will bring together celebrity artists from beauty, fashion, film and television, top pro-beauty brands and educators with pro makeup artists, hairstylists, business owners and students from across the globe for three days of education, community building and networking. The events are open to pros from any are of the makeup and beauty industries.

I went on Saturday for the Make up 101 Class and 8 hour extensive class on all things for the make up artist to know. The class was give by Daven Mayeda, and outstanding(and awfully cute) make up artist. We learned things that a make up artist needs to know, and some techniques for applying make up. The fun was we got to try out these techniques on a member of the group, we had partners to experiment on. He told us his secrets that he uses in his work.

While we were practing out techniques, Eugenia Weston of Senna Cosmetics came into the class and was walking around looking at our work. Of course I immediatley recognized her and started talking to her. I was so awe struck LOL!!!
This was day one of the summit, will do another post about the class on day 2 with Kevin James Bennett.
